Job Description

Summary

Under the supervision of a Fabrication Supervisor, the Welder/Fabricator is a key member of our cross-functional team producing industrial air solutions: duct sections, custom dampers, exhaust stacks, fuel/air/water trains (skids), and control room components. You will work alongside the fabrication team from layout through final weld and assist with fit-up for assemblies that must meet tight tolerances, code requirements, and customer specifications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and prioritize daily work to meet on-time delivery.

  • Read prints and job packets; perform accurate layout, square/level checks, and fit-ups.

  • Select process/parameters (TIG/MIG; wire, gas, filler) based on material and joint design.

  • Prep joints: beveling, cleaning, fit-up, and tack using best practices to control distortion.

  • Weld carbon/stainless/aluminum components; perform multi-pass and position welds as required.

  • Fabricate parts by cutting, notching, drilling, forming, and grinding to spec.

  • Straighten/manipulate weldments to tolerance.

  • Build subassemblies and final assemblies (e.g., damper frames/blades/actuator mounts, stack sections, skid frames and pipe spools, and ductwork).

  • Verify dimensions and weld quality; complete in-process and final inspections per specifications.

  • Collaborate with upstream/downstream cells (burning, brake, paint, assembly) to meet schedules.

  • Identify obstacles early (material shortages, print issues, fit-up conflicts) and communicate solutions.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow OSHA/company safety rules.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production goals.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Technical degree/certificate in welding or related field (preferred).

  • 3–5 years’ hands-on TIG/MIG experience with steel, stainless, and aluminum in a job-shop environment.

Core Skills

  • Blueprint/WPS comprehension, weld symbol fluency, and GD&T basics.

  • Measurement and layout mastery; comfortable using calipers, micrometers, and protractors.

  • Safe rigging and material handling; ability to operate cranes, lifts, and forklifts.

  • Quality mindset with documentation discipline (labels, heat numbers, revision control).
